Spice up your shakers

IMG_3041_2Have I mentioned I love thrifting?! Many of my projects start from thrifted items. I mean there is a ton of inspiration that can be found in thrift stores folks! The possibilities are endless with all of those lonely items just sitting on the shelves, waiting to be bought! One of my most recent purchases were these salt and pepper shakers for under $1 a piece! (Say whaaat? yup, ONE dollar)IMG_3037They looked like blank canvases to me that needed just a little spicing up. After my handy-dandy ceramic paint marker got ahold of them, they had a whole new meaning to life. I simply drew multiple lines around the shakers and filled in the space with triangles and circles. After i was finished drawing, I allowed them to dry for 8 hours (as suggested on the markers instructions) and then baked them in the oven at 375 degrees for 40 minutes that way once washed, the writing would not come off.IMG_3053

Don’t you love the Aztec-y vibe they’re rockin’ now? It fits perfectly with my style and definitely adds a little character to our kitchen when they’re sitting out.

Now, I’m ready to go color on every ceramic piece in sight!
